World of Warriors (formerly Project Boda-boda) anchors SNF’s care model in Uganda, spanning 37 clinics that serve thousands of children with type 1 diabetes ("warriors"). Led by clinicians and nurses, and supported by Warrior Coordinators, the program addresses access-to-care barriers by improving access to insulin and essential supplies and ensuring regular A1C testing. By embedding lived experience into the care model, World of Warriors builds sustainable, community-driven systems that strengthen adherence and improve clinical outcomes for warriors in low-resource settings.
Project Tuyinza delivers psychosocial care through warrior camps, warrior workshops, and home visits. Camps empower warriors (children with T1D) with skills for lifelong self-management while reducing stigma and creating supportive communities. Warrior Workshops extend this model at the clinic level, engaging parents and caregivers in T1D education. For newly diagnosed children, home visits provide tailored guidance and connection to a wider support network. Together, these interventions nurture confidence, resilience, and holistic care for warriors across sub-Saharan Africa.
Education is a powerful determinant of health.Project Mishra provides scholarships for primary, secondary and vocational training to warriors most at risk of falling behind. By combining academic support with continued medical care, the program enables warriors to manage T1D while gaining skills for economic independence. Alumni are thriving as professionals in healthcare, trades and creative industries, proving that investment in education not only improves health outcomes but transforms lives and communities. Project Elimu scales up Project Mishra into an education and medical campus.
The Warrior Educator Training Program equips young adults with T1D to serve as certified peer educators. Through intensive training and structured fieldwork, they develop technical expertise and mentorship skills to strengthen local healthcare systems. Warrior Educators extend the reach of clinics, combat stigma in communities and provide crucial peer-to-peer support. By leveraging lived experience as a tool for innovation and leadership, the program builds a sustainable, scalable model that transforms warriors into change makers across Africa.
